For Professional Advisors
If you’re interested in learning more, discussing referral opportunities or simply want to jump on a call, grab coffee or lunch, feel free to use our online calendar to book a call or meeting.
At Family Wealth & Legacy Legal Solutions (FWLLS), we prefer a team approach to estate planning and to work closely with our client’s professional advisors, including Certified Financial Planner™ Practitioners, investment advisors, financial consultants, insurance professionals, Certified Public Accountants, and tax advisors as part of the estate planning team. We believe the team approach provides our mutual clients with the most comprehensive, realistic and effective estate plan.
Our Approach
Unlike the traditional approach to estate planning, we strive to genuinely get to know our clients and develop a relationship with them and their trusted advisors. That is why we start our process with a free 15 minute Strategy Call to learn about their goals, wishes and family dynamic. After that call, if our firm is a good fit to work with a client, we send them a short online intake form. We ask our clients to fill out this intake form and submit it to us prior to their initial Educational Strategy Session. This not only facilitates a more productive first meeting, but helps our clients get financially organized and focus on the issues and decisions they must make in order to develop the most effective plan to meet their goals.
EDUCATE
At the initial Educational Strategy Session, we help our clients choose the plan and fee that is best suited for their family. We provide the client with our general recommendations and will quote a fee for all the services we will be providing, so all of the charges are up front, agreed upon and there are no surprises along the way. They will be provided with a retainer agreement, which they may sign at the meeting, or take with them for review and signature.
DESIGN
During the Design Phase, we will meet with our clients to review ALL of their options to ensure that they are actively involved in designing the absolute best plan for their family. During this phase, there is ongoing communication with the client, which may involve obtaining additional documentation, clarifying goals and discussing their options and tradeoffs. We firmly believe that ongoing communication is an essential element to develop an effective plan and build a life-long relationship with our clients.
EXECUTE
We also believe that no client should sign any document without a comprehensive understanding of what they are signing and the ramifications thereof. To that end, we dedicate a significant amount of time to the signing of documents. It allows us to explain each section of the plan and answer any questions that the client may have, so they are well-equipped to understand and properly implement their plan after the documents are signed.
IMPLEMENT
Once documents are signed we provide our clients with the documents that they need to begin properly “funding” their plan, prior to our final Binder Delivery and Legacy Meeting. During that period we will work directly with our clients, or with you (their trusted advisors), to ensure funding is done properly. We also keep our clients informed on a regular basis through our firm e-mail newsletter, annual e-mail reminders and blog. Through these regular touch points, we keep clients informed about changes in the law that might affect them, and remind them to monitor their plans with regard to major life events.
One a plan is in place, we set ourselves a part by conducting ongoing meetings every 3 years, for free, to ensure our client’s estate plans are managed properly and remain up to date, so they will achieve their goals when their family will need them most.
